Fantasy Football: Quarterbacks to Take in the First Round

Fantasy football is almost here. Many of us are already getting are draft boards setup and are looking out for the injuries that might occur in the preseason. Adrian Peterson, Aaron Rodgers, and Calvin Johnson are great first rounders. Below I will list my top 2 players at each position that are worth taking in the first round this fantasy football year.

Quarterbacks

Cam Newton

Cam Newton my favorite fantasy quarterback has the best value out of any fantasy quarterback there is because of his running ability along with his passing abilities. Cam Newton last season threw for 3869 yards and 19 touchdowns. On the ground Newton was also a threat rushing for 741 yards and 8 touchdowns. Dave Gettlemam the Panters GM said recently “its time to win” and that’s what Cam Newton will do this year. Newton has a decent receiving corp this year and with Newtons favorite target veteran Steve Smith returning, Newton will not disappoint those who draft him early this year in fantasy.

Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers was the top fantasy quarterback in the 2012 season. Rodgers will look to put up the same impressive numbers as he did last year in which he passed for 39 touchdowns and a whopping 4295 yards through the air. Rodgers will have the same weapons returning this season except for one which was veteran and long time Packer Greg Jennings who was signed by Minnesota this off season. The Green Bay Packers who’s defense hasn’t been so stellar the past few seasons. Expect the Packers to be in plenty of shootouts this season which could result in Rodgers putting up spectacular numbers this season.
