Fantasy Football: Running Backs to Take in the First Round

My last article covered the top quarterbacks you could pickup in the first round. This article is about the running backs you should draft in the first round. Running backs are a pivotal part on any fantasy team because running backs usually put up your best numbers besides quarterbacks. For your running back you want consistent production week in and week out. Below is a list of my top first round running backs.

Running Backs

Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson is probably the most productive and consistent fantasy football player you can find. Peterson who led the league in rushing last year rushed for an incredible 2097 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns in the process. Peterson is expected to put up similar numbers again this year. I expect Peterson to put up a few more touchdowns than he did last season, I think Peterson will score around 20 touchdowns this season.Adrian Peterson is the heart and soul of the Minnesota Vikings offense. Peterson is a definite first rounder and you would be foolish to pass him up.

Ray Rice

Ray Rice the Baltimore Ravens running back last year was a top 5 fantasy running back. This year I expect Rice to be much more productive back for fantasy football owners this year simply because Joe Flacco has no one reliable to get the ball to. Rice this season will see an increase in the amount of carries he gets per game. Rice will be relied on heavily by the Ravens on first and second down to get solid yards. Last year he rushed for 1143 yards and 9 touchdowns. This season I expect him to hit the 1500 mark and score around 14 touchdowns. Rice will be a very productive back this year and is a great pick if he falls to you.
